Frank Biner sings every song with great abandon and confidence and there's a good reason for it. Biner has lived these sensual blues many times over. Through these self-penned songs he takes us through his journey of heartache, pain and his on-the-edge-survival.
Biner's highly charged guitar playing is truly up to snuff, sinking that pick into every string, beyond excellence. Biner has dedicated his life to the blues; he's a full-time blues man steeped in this music for life.
Biner's in-your-face vocals and the seriously snappy horn section helps to make this music seem like it was recorded live. The overall recording quality surpasses most blues CDs.
On 'Little Money' Biner rumbas through a tune about stretching his cash much further than it was meant to go while he moans slowly about his cheating woman on 'Ain't None So Blind.'
Joe Louis Walker plays a bit of slide guitar along with many special performances by other guest artists too numerous to list here.
With Acoustic Music Records behind the CD, you might expect a mellower energy from this recording, however nothing could be further from the truth. This Germany based record company should be congratulated for taking this gutsy electric blues project on.
Blues with a bite is how I'd describe this music and Biner's delivery. Not for the faint of heart.
